Are tongues necessary for salvation? A question we are confronted with constantly.

Why the fight? It is what happens when someone is filled with the Holy spirit. It is not a choice we have, it is what God does.

Witness 1

THE DAY OF PENTECOST Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. They spoke in tongues when they were filled with the Holy Spirit. It was not a secret event. Peter spoke of this in Acts 2:33 Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. So many saw and heard this momentous event. They were all eyewitnesses to one of the greatest events in the history of mankind. However if this was the only record relating to how people received the Holy Spirit we would have cause to doubt, but that is not the case.

Witness 2

Acts 10:44-48
The Gentiles Receive the Holy Spirit
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Can any man forbid — water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
We would think perhaps that we should be satisfied with that, now that we have two eyewitness accounts.

Witness 3

Acts 19
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve.
This is the third eyewitness account of  people receiving the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues. Man has said “more more”, but God has plainly said “enough”. God Has proved the point, man ignores God! Will you?

In the bible there are principles laid down, especially in the Old Testament Law. Deuteronomy 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. The two or three eyewitnesses were mandated by God to prove a case In the Book of Acts we have three eyewitness accounts of people receiving the Holy Spirit and they all spoke in tongues. God has proved His case. You must speak in tongues as evidence that you have received the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit, The Spirit of God, the Spirit of Reconciliation. There is no “second blessing”. This evidence, is not the “Gift” of tongues. It is the Sign spoken of in Mark 16 15-20. The sign ( word in the Greek means a mark of identification) which clearly shows a person has received the Holy Spirit, and there is only one Spirit, not many. Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. If you do not have the Holy Spirit, you are not a Christian! If you are not a Christian, you obviously are not saved! Are tongues necessary, absolutely!
